Alcohol makes you gain weight! MYTH
A recent study done by the University of Sydney, concluded that alcohol will increase appetite without meaning that what we eat will translate into extra kilos. The theory ‘nutritional geometry’ suggests that mixtures of nutrients and dietary components actually affect our health.
Researchers note that although alcohol contains significant number of calories, it does not necessarily lead to weight gain. What matters is what type of foods you will consume once the appetite kicks in. Alcohol is known to increase appetite salty foods so if alcohol makes you hungry, go for lean protein foods such as lean red meat, chicken, fish, and avoid snacking on salty snacks.
If you want to stick to a healthy diet, opt for a healthy snack such as unsalted nuts, vegetable sticks and tzatziki as a dip!
