In 1990, Dr. Petros K. Nikolaidis founded and directed the first “Fetal Medicine Unit” at the “MITERA” Maternity Hospital in Greece, which became a center of reference for fetal ultrasound and prenatal testing. Due to his expertise in fetal medicine, he was asked to organize departments of fetal medicine at various university clinics and private maternity hospitals throughout Greece. Dr. Petros K. Nikolaidis has also collaborated with the University of London on research programs in the field of fetal medicine and has published innovative work in foreign publications. In 2001, he was elected a professor in the Obstetric Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, which was later renamed the University of West Attica.

Furthermore, Dr. Petros K. Nikolaidis still teaches the Genetics course and introduced the Obstetric Ultrasound course. He is responsible for the undergraduate course for high-risk pregnancy and created a high-tech ultrasound laboratory at the University of West Attica, where he implemented pilot programs for specialized fetal ultrasound training for undergraduate students.

As an exclusive genetic consultant to university clinics and private clinics, Dr. Petros K. Nikolaidis has followed ultrasound scans of more than 100,000 fetuses throughout Greece. He is considered a pioneer in intrauterine fetal medical surgery, having performed intrauterine fetal operations.

“Embryoiatriki – Genetiki” is a model research center in Fetal Ultrasound and Fetal Genetic Testing that was established in 2004 by Dr. Petros K. Nikolaidis. Since then, the center has grown into a network of medical facilities in 10 cities across Greece, including Athens, Patras, Kalamata, Sparta, Corinth, Arachova, Trikala, Volos, Ioannina, and Kastoria.

In addition to his work in fetal medicine, Dr. Petros K. Nikolaidis is also certified by the Alinsod Institute for Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery in California for the THERMIva® method, which he brought exclusively to Greece. This innovative, non-invasive treatment uses heat and radio frequencies to renew the tissues inside and outside the vagina, producing new collagen and elastin. Dr. Petros K. Nikolaidis has been credited with making this treatment widely available in Greece, and it has gained popularity due to its safety, directness, affordability, and effectiveness.
